Open Position Title: Upper School English Teacher

Job Description: The English teacher must be able to communicate
effectively through a relational approach, encouraging students to take risks in learning and to demonstrate learning in innovative ways. The English teacher is a part of the upper school faculty and reports to the upper school principal. All members of the faculty are expected to contribute to chapel and other spiritual development
activities and other duties as assigned.

Major responsibilities:

• Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans including instructional
  objectives, learning activities and assessments integrated with
  Biblical foundations

• Utilize appropriate educational technology

• Create and evaluate appropriate instructional and assessment
  methods

• Maintain appropriate pacing in accordance with the curriculum
  guide

• Maintain a collaborative relationship with all members of the
  faculty

• Demonstrate the maturity to inspire student learning and
  understanding of the age group

• Maintain a positive classroom environment, conducive to
  learning, yet open to questioning and participation

• Effectively communicate and partner with parents in the
  educational and spiritual development of students

• Support school initiatives and show support for student interests
  outside of the school day.
  

  QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in English or a related content area

• Have strong written and verbal communication skills

• Exhibit a strong faith and exemplary lifestyle.

• All applicants must be members of a local church, able to give a strong defense of their faith, and able to sign and abide by the SCA statement of faith to be considered

• Must be able to establish and maintain effective professional relationships

• Have experience using classroom technology, electronic resources, programs, and platforms

• Ability to accept direction and professional development

• Ability to exercise good judgment
