Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to lead the Ezell-Harding Upper School and carry out the mission of Ezell-Harding Christian School (EHCS) by coordinating and fostering an effective upper school strategy that is conducive to being a premiere Christian School focused on continual improvement and where helping each student realize the full potential God has instilled in him or her is paramount.
The Upper School Principal reports directly to the President.
Leadership Responsibilities:
● To facilitate the involvement of all stakeholders in upholding the mission of the school to the best of their ability
● To bond the school community together so that each participant feels valued and respected, which includes getting to know the parents, students, and teachers
● To analyze all data, achievement test scores, surveys, etc., to determine what changes need to be made
● To work with the administrative team to oversee the day-to-day operations of the school pertaining to the Upper School
● To assign responsibilities, both curricular and extra-curricular
● To work with the guidance counselor to assign students to classes
● To work with the guidance counselor to develop and manage schedules
Curriculum Responsibilities:
● To monitor the development and implementation of curriculum guides
● To facilitate the study of specific subject areas as well as the selection and procurement of appropriate textbooks and other teaching material
● To observe in the classroom to ensure that the curriculum is being taught effectively
● To meet with parents to address individual issues
● To monitor report cards and grades to determine student achievement
Spiritual Focus:
● To model and encourage Christ-like behavior, inspire an environment that supports the spiritual growth of teachers and students alike, provide for meaningful instruction in Bible study, and keep the spiritual component of our mission in the forefront.
Communication Responsibilities:
● To send parent newsletters or e-mails on a regular basis
● To monitor teacher communication with parents in teacher newsletters, blogs, report cards, etc.
● To facilitate communication among faculty members both within subject areas and in other areas
● To preside at public functions involving the upper school and campus-wide functions
● To interview and consult with the President for hiring teachers and staff as needed
● To evaluate teachers using the school evaluation model and informal models
● To keep teacher/staff files updated
● To provide professional development for teachers
● To work with the administrative assistant to arrange for substitute teachers as necessary
Admissions Responsibilities:
● To generate ideas and outreach that promote admissions
● To study admissions data for the purpose of identifying trends and making projections
● To support and supervise open houses, beginning of school parent activities, etc.
● To assist in the testing of students as needed
● To provide leadership when students must be denied admission for any reason
● To conference with parents when there are admissions issues
Professional Responsibilities:
● To at all times implement strong Christian character, good judgement, and be ethical, honest, and forthright
● To communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in professional language
● To respect teacher/student/parent confidentiality
● To create a climate of respect in the school and beyond
● To demonstrate excellent punctuality and attendance, including school-related meetings
● To present himself/herself professionally both in dress and demeanor
● To be enthusiastic advocates for Ezell-Harding, including at programs and activities
Qualifications:
● Master’s Degree or higher required
● Administrative License required
● Must be an active member of a Church
● All other to be determined by Board Members and/or Administration
