Job Description:
The Bentonville Christian Academy (BCA) is associated with the Churches of Christ and was started as a vision to provide an alternative learning institution with the mission to be Christ-centered, Family focused with an academically awesome learning environment within the Northwest Arkansas area. The vision of BCA is to equip every student with Faith, Wisdom and Knowledge to the advancement of the student and the Kingdom of God through the vocation for which they are called. BCA is located in the Bentonville area and currently utilizes two campuses, an Elementary and Middle/High school.
Reports to: Bentonville Christian Academy Board of Directors: The Board governs through policy and strategic oversight: the Head of School leads through administration and execution of the school’s mission.
Position Overview: The Head of School provides spiritual leadership, academic oversight, and organizational stability. This role ensures consistency in mission, culture, and educational excellence while supporting staff, students, and families. The Head of School serves as the school’s primary point of communication and spiritual leadership, to the Staff, Students, Parents and the Board of Directors, while operating in alignment with the school’s Christian mission, statement of faith, and core values.
Position Objectives:

3. Encourage a collaborative, faith-based culture.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Spiritual Leadership
• Model Christ-like character and servant leadership.
• Ensure school culture, curriculum, and practices reflect a biblical foundation.
• Lead or assist and support chapels, staff devotions, and spiritual development initiatives.
• Encourage a spiritually healthy environment among faculty, staff, and students.
2. Academic Leadership
• Core Responsibilities:
o Curriculum Development
Oversee the development and implementation of the school’s curriculum by providing evaluations and recommendations regarding the academic programs and curriculum selection to achieve and maintain high standards of learning and biblical integration.
Ensure alignment with educational standards and best practices.
o Academic Performance Monitoring
Analyze student performance data to assess academic progress.
Implement strategies for improvement based on data analysis.
o Faculty Oversight
Recruit, Develop and Evaluate faculty and staff, in accordance with BCA By-laws.
Foster professional development opportunities for teachers.
3. Organizational & Operational Management
• Provide direction for daily operations, campus safety, and school-wide systems.
• Supervise administrative staff, including principals and directors.
• Work with the Board to ensure policies are implemented consistently.
4. Strategic Leadership
• Maintain institutional stability.
• Provide honest assessments of strengths and areas for improvement.
• Continuously engage in the strategic planning process.
5. Financial & Development Oversight
• Collaborate regularly with the Board of Directors Treasurer to maintain financial transparency, monitor budgets and manage resources and assets responsibly.
• Support fundraising through donor engagement and communication with stakeholders when appropriate.
6. Public Relations and Community Representation
• Establish regular communication with parents, Board Members, and community stakeholders about academic programs and goals.
• Serve as the primary contact for parent concerns and school-wide communication.
• Responsibly representing the school to churches, community partners, and external organizations.
• Foster an atmosphere of collaboration, encouragement, and open communication.
Qualifications
Spiritual & Personal
• The successful candidate will be an active member in good standing within the Church of Christ.
• A mature, growing Christian committed to the school’s statement of faith.
• Demonstrates Christ-like humility, integrity, approachability, and wisdom.
• Able to shepherd staff and students with grace and biblical insight.
Professional
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree or higher preferred (educational leadership, or in a closely related field).
• Prior experience in school administration/leadership (principal, head of school, superintendent, etc.) highly preferred, experienced with faculty supervision and organization management required.
• Demonstrated familiarity with Christian education philosophy and biblical worldview integration.
• Proven strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills are required.
